Album of the day #4 - Tether

March 29, 2026

Listen along: Bandcamp | Spotify

This “modern folk” record sways between very tender, intimate recordings, and more intense rock sounds. Listening to Annahstasia’s singing is simultaneously relaxing and cathartic for me.

I have been listening to this album at least weekly for the past few months. I first discovered this artist via “professional music fan” Derrick Gee (YouTube, TikTok, Patreon) who seemingly cannot stop promoting her. She was also a guest curator on his listening show! (Solid Air 15 November, 2024).

Favorite tracks:

  • Waiting (Track 6): This track perfectly highlights Annahstasia’s vocal range, from tender, quiet singing to intense, emotionally charged vocals.
  • Overflow (Track 7): I enjoy the lyrics and meaning of this song, and appreciate it as a generally more optimistic, happy-sounding track. It helps me unwind and relax the most.
  • Silk and Velvet (Track 9): My favorite track on the record. It has a great build-up as the vocals intensify over the course of the song. It also has captivating lyrics that explore the tension between anti-capitalist beliefs and materialist desires.
  • Satisfy Me (Track 10): Another banger with beautiful emotional range.

Happy listening,

Max
